Xbox 360 Mods:
Cool it
When it comes to Xbox 360 mods there's a choice between mods that are practical and mods that are just for the hell of it. But top of anyone's list has to be some way to stop the Xbox from frying in its own juice and giving you the Red Finger... sorry, I mean Ring of Death.
Part of the problem has got to be the fan - which in any case is so LOUD that it's a strong candidate for replacement on those grounds alone. (Get rid of that, and there's only the hard drive yelling at you... another day, perhaps.)
The new fan from Talismoon, the Whisper Max offers you two modes: normal (for watching dvds and other activities that don't tax the processor too much) and Nitro, which runs with up to 240% more power for when you're getting into some heavy gaming.
Talismoon's new fan is rated 3 decibels quieter than the Xbox standard fan (which makes more difference than it sounds, because of the way decibels work). It's the deluxe version of the old Whisper fan, and was announced on 10th January, 2008. Plus it has a choice of red, blue or green LED lighting (or none, if RROD's put you right off the whole idea of light glowing from your console ;} ). More details here.
And if you're not sure if you're up to replacing the fan yourself, this article will show you exactly how to do it.
