In case you have been living under a rock for the last few years, you should know that Guitar Hero is a best selling guitar simulation that has been sold in 5 different versions and has had 3 different tributes to the rock bands Metallica, Aerosmith and the latest Van Halen.
The game let you enjoy the sensation of playing an electric guitar and as of Guitar Hero 4 (World Tour) also the drum set, the bass guitar and using a microphone your voice, without the huge learning curve involved in mastering such instruments.
Until the release of band hero, the Guitar Hero game series were teen oriented rated T, and had mostly rock, heavy rock and even metal rock orientation. With the release of band hero this has changed.
First of all the game is rated E+10 meaning that everyone from ten years of age and up can play the game. This makes the game much more family friendly and allows the family to enjoy some quality music time together.
The music orientation has changed as well. It now feature Top 40 songs with more of pop and pop rock tendencies. This is not at all the same music that we got used to in the Guitar Hero series and if you are a metal or hard rock fan you will not enjoy the music. After all it is Taylor swift that is representing the game, and I think this explain it all about the nature of the music in it.
But the main difference is that Xbox band hero is mostly focused on the vocal singing and the band group play than on the guitar. It's not about the fast notes change or the high dexterity requirements that we were used to, but more about getting together and having fun.
